Help, and a real address.

Fluid is made by one person. There is no ticket queue and no chatbot — questions go to an inbox that is read.

Get in touch

Email me@rubenbristian.com. Most messages get an answer within a few days.

It helps to say which iPhone and which iOS version you are on, whether you use Fluid on your own or share a household, and what you expected to happen. If a number looks wrong, the date and the amount are usually enough to find it.

Please do not send screenshots containing anything you would not want in an inbox. We do not need your ledger to answer a question about it.

Deleting your account and your data

You can do this yourself, in the app: Settings → Account → Delete account. It asks twice, and the second screen states exactly what goes.

Deleting the account removes what our server holds: your profile, and the household with every expense, category, pocket and goal in it — for everyone in that household. If you share a household with someone, deleting your account destroys the server’s copy for them too. The app says so before you confirm.

It does not touch anybody’s phone. Fluid keeps the real data on the device, so the other person’s app still has their ledger.

If you cannot reach the screen — a lost phone, for instance — email us and we will do it on request, once we can confirm the request comes from the account holder.

Using Fluid without an account

Fluid works with no account and no internet connection, permanently. Nothing is held back behind a sign-in, and nothing you enter is sent anywhere.

An account exists for one reason: so two people can point at the same household from two phones. If you use Fluid on your own, you never need one.

Sharing a household

The owner opens Settings → Members and enters the other person’s email address. The invitation then waits for that address.

Nothing is emailed. There is no mail server behind Fluid, and an app that announced “invitation sent” about a message it never sent would be lying about the one step you are waiting on. The invitation appears inside Fluid when that person signs in with the address it was written to.

Joining a household replaces what is currently on the joining phone. The app explains this before you confirm, because the alternative — merging — would import a budget the household never received.

Something is not appearing on the other phone

Every device keeps its own copy, so an expense is saved the moment you tap save, signal or not. It travels when the phone next has a connection, the app comes to the front, or you write something new.

  1. Check Settings → Sync on both phones. It reports what is waiting and, if something was refused, the reason in the server’s own words.
  2. Confirm both people are signed in and appear under Settings → Members.
  3. If the sync row shows a message you cannot act on, send it to us verbatim — it is the most useful thing you can include.

Not built yet

So you are not looking for something that is not there:

  • Foreign-currency expenses. Every amount is treated as being in your household’s currency.
  • Moving money from Available into Savings. Pulling money out of a pocket works; putting it in does not yet.
  • Receipt scanning, notifications, and the monthly written report.
  • Android. Fluid is iPhone-only today.

Privacy

What we hold, why, and how to get rid of it is set out in the privacy policy. The short version: on your own, nothing leaves the phone; shared, a copy of the household lives on our backend so the other person’s app can read it.
